Understanding Sibling Connections
The role of sibling relationships in identity, belonging, and development.
Because sibling connections deserve to be protected, nurtured, and heard—through every chapter.

For children who experience foster care and family separation, sibling relationships can provide familiarity, identity, comfort, and connection. Preserving those relationships is not always simple. Caregivers and professionals need practical, thoughtful strategies that recognize each child's voice, safety, and individual circumstances.
This training brings together lived experience and professional practice to explore how adults can support sibling connections without placing adult decisions on children.
Participants will consider how separation affects sibling relationships and explore ways to respond with empathy, practical support, and sound judgment.
Recognize the importance of sibling identity, attachment, and belonging.
Understand barriers to maintaining meaningful sibling connections.
Support communication, relationships, and appropriate family contact.
Listen to children's preferences without leading, pressuring, or dismissing safety concerns.
Identify practical steps caregivers and professionals can take to support sibling relationships.
Each module is organized separately so participants can move through the training in manageable sections.
